Fr. Zlock was born in Pottsville, and grew up in Warminster and Doylestown. His parents are Dr. Charles Zlock, a retired dentist, and Loretta (Walko) Zlock, a real estate agent. He has one brother, Dr. Gregory Zlock who is a dentist. Gregory and his wife Margot (a nurse) live in Missoula, Montana.
After high school at St. Joseph Prep, he graduated from Susquehanna University with a BS in Management with a Business Certificate in German. He later matriculated at the University of South Carolina with a Master’s in International Business. After graduation, he worked in industry both in Germany and the United States.
Fr. Zlock entered St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in 1989 and was ordained by Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua in 1994. Previous assignments included St. Martin of Tours parish then 10 years in education (Archbishop Wood in Warminster; Neumann-Goretti in South Philadelphia then Chaplain-Director at the Newman Center at the University of Penn). Later he served as a member of the Office for Clergy, responsible for “Ongoing Formation” organizing retreats, continuing education, assignment specific training, etc.) for the priests of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. One year as Rector of Malvern Retreat House, he was appointed as Pastor of the Parish of St. Monica in Berwyn, PA.
Among his interests are various outdoor activities—fly-fishing, back packing, canoe camping, golf, reading and cooking. He has also been involved in martial arts for many years and achieved a second-degree black belt Korean Tang-Soo-Do karate.
